Our Sacred Identity

ACK St. Crispin’s Cathedral, Bungoma, is the principal church of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Bungoma. It stands as the mother church and spiritual center of the diocese, symbolizing unity, faith, and mission among all Anglican parishes within Bungoma County and beyond.

The cathedral is the official seat of the Bishop of the ACK Diocese of Bungoma. It houses the Cathedra — the Bishop’s chair—which represents the Bishop’s authority to teach, sanctify, and shepherd the people of God. Wherever the Cathedral is established, that church is recognized as a cathedral, regardless of size or architecture.

As the diocesan cathedral, St. Crispin’s hosts major ecclesiastical functions including Episcopal services presided over by the Bishop, ordinations, confirmations, and consecrations, Diocesan synods and key celebrations, and united worship bringing together clergy and laity from across the diocese.

Beyond its liturgical role, St. Crispin’s Cathedral serves as a center for mission, administration, and pastoral leadership. It plays a vital role in guiding evangelism, discipleship, education, and community outreach within the Diocese of Bungoma.
